Public Safety & Law Enforcement in District 6

Safe neighborhoods are essential to strong communities. Families in Essex, Dundalk, Edgemere, and surrounding areas deserve to feel secure in their homes, businesses, and schools.

Many residents have shared concerns about property crime, drug activity, and repeat offenders. From theft and vandalism to the visible impact of substance abuse, these issues affect daily life and community confidence.

As a candidate for State Delegate, I believe Annapolis must take a serious and balanced approach to public safety — one that supports local law enforcement, strengthens accountability, and ensures our laws protect law-abiding citizens.

Supporting Law Enforcement Through State Policy

While local police departments operate at the county level, the State of Maryland plays a major role in shaping criminal law, sentencing guidelines, and public safety funding.

As your State Delegate, I will:

• Support legislation that strengthens penalties for serious and repeat offenders
• Advocate for proper funding for law enforcement training and recruitment
• Ensure officers have access to modern equipment and mental health response training
• Promote policies that improve coordination between federal, state, and local agencies

Our law enforcement professionals deserve clear laws, adequate resources, and strong backing from state leadership.

Public safety should never be political — it should be practical, responsible, and focused on protecting communities.

Addressing the Opioid Crisis in Our Communities

The opioid crisis has deeply impacted parts of District 6. Communities such as Essex, Dundalk, and Edgemere have experienced the devastating effects of addiction and overdose.

Fentanyl continues to pose a serious threat due to its potency and the danger of illicit drug distribution. Addressing this crisis requires action at both the enforcement and public health levels.

As a State Delegate, I will support:

• Strengthening penalties for major drug traffickers
• Increased funding for drug enforcement task forces
• Expanded access to prevention and recovery programs
• Stronger coordination between state agencies and local law enforcement

Reducing drug trafficking and improving treatment access are both necessary to improve safety and protect families.

A Practical Commitment to Community Safety

Public safety policy must be measured, consistent, and rooted in the needs of our neighborhoods.

As someone who has lived in this community my entire life, I understand the importance of protecting what makes District 6 special — safe streets, thriving small businesses, and strong families.

In Annapolis, I will advocate for laws that prioritize accountability, support our law enforcement officers, and strengthen the safety of our communities.

My mission is to bring our communities together with steady, service-driven leadership, strengthen economic opportunity, improve public safety, and keep people — not politics — at the center of every decision.
