The Environment & The Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay is one of Maryland’s greatest natural treasures — and for many families in District 6, it is part of everyday life. From Middle River to Essex and Edgemere, our communities are closely connected to the water.

Recent issues involving the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant raised serious concerns about water quality and environmental oversight. When infrastructure failures occur, and untreated or partially treated wastewater enters our waterways, it affects public health, marine life, and local businesses that depend on clean water.

As a State Delegate, I believe Annapolis must take environmental accountability seriously. That includes strong oversight of state-regulated facilities, responsible infrastructure funding, and enforcement of existing environmental standards.

Protecting Local Waterways & Livelihoods

A clean Chesapeake Bay supports:

• Watermen and seafood industries
• Small businesses tied to recreation and tourism
• Families who enjoy fishing, boating, and swimming
• Long-term environmental sustainability

Environmental stewardship is not a partisan issue — it is a responsibility we share.

At the state level, I will support:

• Strong oversight of wastewater treatment operations
• Responsible investment in infrastructure upgrades
• Policies that reduce pollution while protecting local jobs
• Transparency when environmental failures occur

Our communities deserve clean water and honest accountability when systems fail.

Preserving What Makes District 6 Special

Those of us who live here understand how important the Bay is to our identity and quality of life. Watching the sun rise over the water, seeing families crabbing along the shoreline, and supporting local watermen are part of what makes this region special.

Protecting the Chesapeake Bay means protecting our economy, our environment, and our way of life.

As your State Delegate, I will work to ensure that environmental policy in Annapolis reflects the needs of the communities who live along the water — including District 6.
My mission is to bring our communities together with steady, service-driven leadership, strengthen economic opportunity, improve public safety, and keep people — not politics — at the center of every decision.
